weekend days

This past weekend I went to an amazing chocolate shop as well as a really amazing museum.

So the chocolate store I went to on Saturday morning was called "A l’Etoile d’Or" which can be found at (30, rue Fontaine (9th zone)Métro: Blanche).
Now the first thing that I need to make you aware of before anything else is that this isn't just any chocolate shop. It's one of those shops that not many people know of unless you do a good google search or someone tells you about it!
The lady who own's the store is the most adorable french lady I! have ever met; she is kind of famous in the chocolate world probally close to chocolate world royalty! known for her pigtails, kilt, smile and non stop chatting! Even if you don't speak french she will still talk to you about.. not sure what, as I didn't really understand anything she said but smiling and nodding kept her quiet pleased :)

The reason this shop is so important to go to is that it is the ONLY shop out side of Lyon that sells Bernachon chocolate. what is that you ask well Bernachon Chocolate is very special as it basically means it's made from scratch! from the cacao bean (they roast, and grind it down to chocolate) this is how chocolate should be without all that nasty stuff the chocolate factories put in it these days!!! yep She makes it herself from scratch!

ok so when I got to the shop I was expecting it to be good but you know how things can be talked up sometimes. anyway I ended up buying some caramels (original, raspberry nad ginger/lemon ones), caramel chocolate bar, plain chocolate bar and some toffees. I thanked the lady as I left; I was sitting on the train to the museum so I thought I would try a caramel. ookay this was the most amazing thing i had ever had in MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!! i ate all the caramels and when i tried the chocolate OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!! i couldnt stop. It's one of those times in your life when you realise your life has been a lie haha, when you never new how good chocolate could actually taste I basically ate everything before i got home so i have to go back before i leave paris!!!

NOW this is SERIOUSLYYYYYY a must go to place if you are ever in paris or if you live in London get you ass or the next train to Paris just for this shop I'm seriously not kidding its so totally worth it!!!

anyway after rambling about chocolate for ages haha. I also went to "Musée d'Orsay" which was totally incredible as well not only did it have some of the most well known beautiful pieces of art, it was also in a really incredible building. I'm totally gutted due to the fact you aren't aloud to take photos. ( I normally do even if you aren't suppose to... until I get told off ;P) but it was kind of impossible as there legit was signs on every corner and guards everywhere so I couldn't be like sorry I don't speak French and I didn't see the sign (which is what i normally do) :( so that was a bummer but it had so really amazing piece (lots of Van Gogh) totally worth going to this museum!

Oh and finally on Sunday night me and Jess went out for dinner and had snails... ekkk. She cond me into it. I say anyone who comes to frances has to try them as its like going to italy and not eating pizza. however they aren't my cup of tea at all haha but who knows you might love them. they kind of remind of of eating a piece of really gristly steak yuck! has sort if a chewing texture haha.

Museum Rodin, Shakespeare & Co

So I got to Paris on Friday last week (I think the 11th...). Due to jetlag I basically slept all day Saturday and then woke up at about 1pm on Sunday. This really bugged me as I was planning on doing a whole heap of stuff. However due to my really late get up time I only got around to doing 2 of about 5-6 things I wanted to do!... next time I suppose.

The 2 things I managed to do on Sunday were

-Museum Rodin
-Shakespeare & Co

Museum Rodin is located in a 18th century mansion; where Rodin once lived. This particular Museum is known for it's sculptures. It's most famous sculpture is "The Thinker" which I'm sure 99% of you will know what it is. This sculpture is in a number of movies... it's quiet famous :)
There are a number of other famous sculptures there and stunning other pieces. It also has really beautiful gardens!

On Sunday I also headed to "Shakespeare & Co" which is this incredible book store in Paris which sells basically every book you could ever want New & Old. I always try to find second hand books as I feel they have more character, however the books I have been after have been hard to find and my luck with finding them hasn't been great.
This bookstore was opened in 1919 and since then nearly every major writer of the 20th century has been through this beautiful book store. (some being: Hemingway, Fitzgerald, James Joyce, as well as a bunch of others) I wasn't aloud to take photos inside as they don't want you to disturb the people reading however it is 2 floors quiet small but has that old beautiful feel to it. hard to explain but it is incredible!

enjoy the pics

HALLOWEEN

So if you guys didn't know already this was my first halloween, as it;s really not celebrated in Australia at all.

So this past weekend was EPIC!!! on the Saturday me em and jess went out costume shopping because as usual we left it to the very last minute, so karma bite us in the ass. and by that I mean we had to trudge around in the freezing cold snow and snow slush and wind to find them!!!!! In the end we went as rag dolls which was pretty cool. We had a really fun night that Saturday as everyone was dress up and all the people in the streets were nuttas!! hahaha

Then on Sunday friends of ours asked us if we wanted to go to a haunted house. and we were expecting to just go somewhere in manhattan then all of a sudden we weren't in NYC anymore. then 2 hours later they were like ok toilet break and we were like wtf how much longer haha took like 3 hours but was worth it!

we went to the headless horseman haunted house which was at some random town place called Ulster Park. which was so cool it had like 8 parts to the whole thing like haunted hotels, corn fields truck ride through haunted woods so yeh was pretty good. the part that got me the most was when the guy with a chainsaw started chasing us legit was freakin scary!!!

below are some pics of our costumes as well as a link to the headless horseman thing so check it out.
